Her Excellency, Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed the First Lady, Sarauniyar Bauchi had observed with concern the increased incidence of Gender Based Violence especially during the Covid 19 pandemic in Bauchi state. This led to the constitution of the Bauchi State Action Committee on Gender Based Violence (BSACGBV) in order to create awareness and take proactive measures in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. A high powered committee made up of Fifty Three( 53) Members as representatives from stakeholder MDAs and NGOs with knowledge and expertise in the area of GBV; Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Women Affairs, Child Development and Social Welfare, National Human Rights Commission, The Nigeria Police Force, Bauchi State Network of Civil Society Organizations( BASNEC), Federation of Female Lawyers(FIDA), National Orientation Agency(NOA),Nigeria Association of Women Journalists(NAWOJ), Religious and Traditional Institutions and Politicians.

 

The Committee was inaugurated on July 17th, 2020.
